Activities
The city has crazy golf courses, bowling alleys, board game cafes, escape rooms and an ice hockey arena. Nearby, there is green countryside, the River Trent, Attenborough Nature Reserve, and Wollaton Deer Park.
Bars
Nottingham has a range of pubs and bars including the students’ favourite Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, said to be the oldest pub in England. There are also quirky themed bars, and a range of alcohol-free bars.
Cafes
Nestled into the city are many quaint, independent cafes, as well as chains like Starbucks and Costa.
Chain restaurants
There are a range of chain restaurants in the city centre too – from Italian restaurants to Nandos.
Cricket
Nottingham hosts the world-famous Trent Bridge cricket ground.
Events
There are comedy, music and literary events throughout the year. The city also hosts Christmas markets each winter and a temporary beach in summer.
Football
With two football teams in the city, you can find a new team to support during your time with us at University.
History
Nottingham is home to the famous Robin Hood. There are tours and experiences as well to learn more about the hero. You can also visit the Great Oak tree where he supposedly lived in nearby Sherwood Forest.
Ice hockey
We’re proud to have the European Champions ice hockey team, the Nottingham Panthers, in the city. You can watch them play live or have a go on the ice yourself.
Independent restaurants
Nottingham has a range of independent restaurants. Our students recommend Annie’s Burger Shack, where all burgers are available as meaty, vegetarian or vegan. They also recommend the authentic Thai cuisine at Zaap.
Music
There are large venues that host world-famous stars and small clubs and bars with up-and-coming live music. There are also multiple student nights at various clubs.
Theatres and cinemas
With several cinemas and theatres which play host to large touring productions in the city, you’re guaranteed a great evening out.
Watersports
There is the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont, in Nottingham. You can try kayaking and white-water rafting.
World food
You’ll find a range of authentic cuisines in Nottingham, from Greek, to Italian, to Vietnamese, to Indian. There's a taste of home.
